I love what I do! There’s a real buzz about my business and it’s such great fun every day. Natalia Violet Antiques was borne out of complete necessity in the lockdown of 2020, where I managed to juggle bringing up 4 boys during a pandemic with setting up a new business, a business which surprised me how rapidly it grew.
I feel privileged to be able to help my clients to downsize, releasing the burden of inherited material clutter, and then being able to sell their pre-loved vintage and antique items to others who want to give them a new life.
Many of our clients are selling the content of a house after the death of a loved one; this is a very emotional time and it's difficult to decipher which objects to keep and which ones to sell, as so many of them hold memories and are so sentimental. I feel I have found something which draws on both my History of Art degree and my MA in Arts Therapy - both have come in handy when dealing with both clients and customers.
NOT buying items that are newly made and come from many miles away is so important to us AND we use recycled packaging to send our items as much as possible. Since the company started in 2020, we've never bought a cardboard box!
I couldn't have done all this without wonderful, supportive friends: Tory who deals with all the dramas; Poppy who is always calm in the busy office; and Sam, a wonderful new friend who lives in my village. I'm always juggling motherhood and work, not always doing a perfect job of either, but very much trying.
